Why does this matter?
Milna’s Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation was built in 1783, but its stone bell tower dates to the 16th century. High on the upper level are eight carved mascaron heads — the kind of detail that disappears when you only look at the waterfront.
It is a small find, which is useful: not every discovery needs a queue, a ticket or a superlative.
What should you look for?
Stay outside if the church is closed. The bell-tower detail is visible from the square. Do not rush the photograph. First place the detail back inside the street, harbour or landscape that made it possible.
How to find it
- Walk up to Milna’s parish church and look high on the 16th-century stone bell tower. Count the carved heads on the upper semicircular arches.
- Use the map as a final check, then look for the physical detail described above.
- Allow enough time to notice the surroundings instead of treating this as a pin to collect.
Is it worth the detour?
Yes—if you prefer a place with a story to another interchangeable viewpoint. This is not the biggest sight in Milna. It is the one that makes the destination less generic.
